Water damage
There are several types of clean and contaminated water. The cleanup techniques used for each are specific and need to be determined by your restoration professional. Improper treatment can become evident over time in the form of molds, mildew and their associated odors.

Frozen Pipes: Insulating pipes serves several functions. Heat loss to your hot water pipes and condensation dripping can be prevented, and freezing can be prevented as well.

Thawing Frozen Pipes: If a pipe breaks due to freezing, shut off the water at the shut-off valve to reduce the water damage and open drains to remove the water. Heat the area with a lamp or open cabinet doors if under a sink to prevent further freezing until repair is possible. Hot water-soaked towels can help thaw frozen pipes, but be aware that plastic pipe can melt or burn if flames are used.
